About

Elizabeth Horrigan, LCSW, LICSW, LCSW-C has worked in mental healthcare for 20 years. She was the Director of Outpatient Mental Health Services for a non-profit in the District of Columbia when she decided that she wanted to go back to her true love of providing direct clinical interventions. She developed Flowering Mind Therapeutic Services LLC in order to serve those who have experienced trauma, need support with grief, live with anxiety, and/or have health challenges. She has often heard stories about how it took a person several calls and meetings with other providers before finding care that supported their healing process. Life also often complicates the ability for a person to commit to commuting to a therapist’s office. Liz decided to create a virtual space where a person could easily receive services, where they feel comfortable, and understood.

Liz is originally from Buffalo, NY (Go Bills!) but has practiced in Virginia, then the District of Columbia, and now Maryland since 2014. She has worked in healthcare, trauma care, and mental health settings. Liz has her Master's in Social Work with a concentration in clinical practice and a specialization in health and mental health from Temple University. As part of her education she completed a field placement at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in perinatal care where she also started her training in fertility journeys. She has been trained in various therapy modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and other strength based treatment modalities.

When Liz isn’t working, she is often hiking, being an amateur nature photographer, attending a concert, or trying to be a chef for her family and friends.
